Ready to take the exam? The window for the first round will be open from 1 to 23 March 2025.

Innovation Camp

The Top 12 from the First Round will be invited to a 3-day Innovation Camp where they will take part in a series of workshops to prepare them for the National Final. The finalists will be trained in economics and business. Special emphasis is placed on the business case, which strongly promotes analytical thinking, teamwork and presentation skills.

Beyond the formal agenda, the finalists will also enjoy a variety of group activities and have the opportunity to meet Swiss Economics Olympiad Alumni.

National Final

The National Final for the Top 12 from the First Round consists of two main parts:

1. Written Economics Exam (⅔)

You will first take a written economics exam covering the content of both the First Round and Innovation Camp.

2. Case Study & Presentation (⅓)

In addition, you will solve a case study. All participants will present their results to a panel of judges in a pitch and face a Q&A session. Both the case study and pitch are individual.

The five best students will be selected to form the Swiss delegation to the International Economics Olympiad.

Workshop & Preparation

The next step is to make sure each student of the Swiss Delegation is well prepared for the International Economics Olympiad. For this purpose, we organize several workshops in collaboration with partners and volunteers, which will help you:

  1. get an overview over the most important topics in economics
  2. feel confident in solving a case study and presenting it

International Economics Olympiad

The Swiss Delegation will face four challenges:

1. Finance exam

This multiple-choice exam is a test of your financial knowledge.

2. Economics exam

This exam consists of a multiple-choice section and essay-style questions where you can choose 4 out of 5 tasks. These questions must be answered in a structured and elaborate manner.

3. Business case

You and your team have 24 hours to solve the case and prepare a convincing presentation.

4. Presentation

The grand finale is the presentation itself. You will have ten minutes to present your results and convince the jury.

How to prepare yourself

No extra preparation needed, but...

In general, there's no extra preparation needed in order for you to achieve a good score on the online exam.

If you still want to prepare yourself for the online exam, we suggest you take a look at the old exams and case studies so that you'll get a feeling of your strengths and maybe weaknesses regarding different topics of economics. This way you can prepare yourself by filling those gaps.

In addition, you can solve last year's test to get a feel for the question types. You can take the test several times. To the demo test!
