Want to prepare for the first round?

The first round covers mostly topics from school economics courses such as the Swiss Matura Economics and Law, IB Economics HL, and A-Level Economics. The exam is designed to be challenging but manageable for final-year students. Younger students are also encouraged to take part — as preparation, a personal challenge, or a learning opportunity.

How can I prepare?

Mock exams are the best way to get a feel for the format and difficulty of the first round.

Previous years' exams are available on our website as PDF files for flexible practice and revision.

We can also recommend YouTube videos from Jacob Clifford, EconplusDal, and Khan Academy.

The Economy 2.0 textbook is a very good resource for comprehensive learning and is available online for free.

What should I focus on?

The main topics are microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and financial literacy. It is recommended that you review the previous year's exams to gain a better understanding.

I am a teacher and want to prepare my students, what do I need to focus on?

As long as your students have a strong grasp of the basics of economics, they should be well prepared.

How do I prepare for further rounds?

All relevant information will be sent to the qualified students after the conclusion of the first round.

Why should I participate with all my classes as a teacher?

Qualifying is not the only benefit. Non-final-year students gain valuable experience and a benchmark for future participation, while final-year students get a taste of university-level economic thinking before making study choices. All students can apply their classroom knowledge in a new context, test their analytical thinking, and discover strengths or interests that may not emerge in regular lessons.
